Simple HT - A Sub Is A Must, I set my mother 65 years and fits the bill. Their goal was to improve the sound of their plasma-TV (TV and DVD) and for them to be able to listen to their CDs as well. She did not want the fishing wire through the wall of confusion, and I can not imagine, with a modern AV receiver.
The YSP-800 is a powered speaker that lets you ditch the AV receiver - (I was only through the combination of the two optical inputs, it is) with an optical cable.
I must say that the other reviews, eco, this is a subwoofer is necessary. The YSP has some 800 speakers, but most are directional tweeter and bottom is completely absent. I added a Yamaha YST-FSW050BL Advanced YST II Down-Firing subwoofer active subwoofer and the results have been impressive and the overall surround sound effects was significantly improved. A sub modest budget ($ 100 - $ 200) 6 "Top 8" woofer with this purchase and will not be disappointed. If you try to HT for someone to even get a Logitech Harmony universal remote control to simplify.
You can get better sound for like $ HT, but requires a lot of separates, the physical space of the marriage contract, cables, speaker stands and supports the desire to mess with it.
